Stator? Is that why I have no spark?

I recently did a HG swap on my car, finally got it running and then after a few minutes of idleing it died. Hooked the timing light to my coil wire and I didnt have spark. I figured my coil died on me so my buddy is supposed to give me his old one tommorow. I did a little research last night and someone made a post saying they didnt have spark because of the stator.What is this thing and where can i get a replacement?

Yeah read those links, I think you can buy one resonably cheap ($20?) at Advanced Auto / O'reilly's etc..

WEnt to discount, they wanted 17 bucks but they cant get till tommorw, so I went to pep boys and they wanted $44 so I said **** that. Does anyone know how I can check to make sure thats what is wrong with my car cause I really want my car running by saturday and I still need a tune.

Are there wires coming out of the bottom of your distributor that go into a little black connector? follow them into the dizzy and BAM there it is. its black and down in the bottom of the dizzy
