Stay 4 lug??

I don't think its that bad. Theres a lot of selection for 4 lug wheels now, ands its a lot bigger than it was just a few years ago.

But the most pointless thing i've seen is people switching to 5 lug only to buy wheels that cover the lug nut holes. Like the 5 lug '93 cobra wheels. You could've saved all that money for the swap and just bought 4 lug wheels, but whatever.

Thats just my opinion.

5 spokes and 4 lugs don't sit right with me, even if you had wheel caps you'll still get better braking performance unless you go the Mark VII/Ranger route.

Where are the said 5 lug '93 Cobra rims?

I have a four lug. I converted to disc on the rear. SSBC system. work great for me.I dont really want to get rid of my rims. I like them they are four lug..

how much are we looking at parts and labor for a complete 5 lug swap? i want to do mine but cant afford $1300 for a kit plus the labor to install?? i see kits for $300 then kits for over $2k whats a decent kit?

I did the TC rear end swap, upgraded to 73mm front calipers, 96 V6 MC, wilwood brake bias valve, and 3-2 proportioning valve ... and you know what... my car isn't the fastest thing to stop... BUT it is much improved over stock...

i think what a lot of people are missing, in terms of higher HP cars, is the stress on the wheel studs. its simple math, all the power goes to the wheels (hopefully we all know how it makes it to this point) through the wheel studs. It is ALL focused in on those 4 wheel studs. Many convert to 5 lug to help disperse the stress onto a 5th stud, thereby reducing stress on all wheel studs ( x/4 > x/5). not a big deal on a 225hp car, but it becomes a bigger deal as the numbers increase.

From what i've learned on here.If you go 5 lug or stay 4 lug and switch to rear disc you will need to do a brake booster and master cylinder, proportioning valve and a 3-2 conversion.Me myself if my car wasent already converted to 5 lug i would of never done it.I have 95 spindels up front with 03 cobra brakes, the rearend is a SVO disc.I'm in the process of getting the upgraded 93 cobra brake booster, and the 95 GT master cylinder, then i will need the 3-2 conversion and possibly the proportioning valve. To me i bet in a sence it would be cheaper to go to 5 lug IF your going to go 4 wheel disc.BECAUSE! 4lug or 5lug and 4 wheels disc you should upgrade the booster and master cylinder plus get a proportioning valve and the 3-2 split. All that added up will be about $260 thats buying it all new.Plus you will have the cost of bigger rotors for a 4 lug.Unlike if you go with 5 lug you will either have to get ranger rear axles and of course disc's or do a SVO rearend swap it is already 5 lug and disc and usually 3.55 or 3.73 gears, then you will need to get spindles from a 94 or 95 stang and you could pick up a set of 03 front brakes and calipers.Going 5 lug you will have wheel choice, and bigger disc choice CHEAPER. You can get bigger 4 lug brakes but then your going to fork out more money cause you will be forced to after market rotors and will probably need to get bigger spindles to accept the bigger rotors. So if your doing this upgrade more for better braking i would do the 5 lug.peace

LOL this post is from 2008 .......................i have the same SSBC system seems to work fine i also have rims im not looking to change.................SSBC systems are very affordable:nice:

Hah didnt notice 08 til I got to the last post, but to add my 2 pennies I dont think I 'll do a 5 lug. Thought about it for awhile but not worth it for me. In fact my vert is a 5.0 swap and I havent changed out the front spindles for the 4 banger either. I redid the braking system that was on there and the car stops just fine. I'm not driving 120 anywhere and no one else should be either if its not on a racetrack.
