Ok everyone so this is the deal. I have a steeda #19 camshaft, I called a few of my local mustang shops and they are telling me to stay away from putting the cam in my car, obviously as we all know our ecu's are finicky. Now some of my current mods include edelbrock performer heads 1.90/1.60 , edelbrock performer u/l intake mani , 4.10 gears , smog delete , fms underdrive pullies , frpp headers , magnaflow full cat-back , 80mm pmas , edelbrock 70mm TB , etc... cant remember them all. Now I really dont know what to do can you all please help. Thanks.:SNSign:

Steeda claims that the #19 cam is the only cam that they offer that can be put into a '94-'95 Mustang without reprogramming.

I have not run one, but I think a few guys here do.

Steeda specifically designed the #19 cam for the 94-95 Mustang.
It says so in their description of the cam on their website.
Maybe your Mustang shop people are thinking of the #18 or #20 cams

I ran the #19 in my car un-tuned N/A with no problems, little finicky idle sometimes, just had to up the idle slightly. ran it for 6 months or so un-tuned, didnt notice any issues

maybe they think(me included) that you should run a more aggressive cam.

for all intensive purposes the #19 cam is a good blower/turbo cam. i would personally look at the trick flow stage 2--if your springs can handle it.

Agreed. With the heads you've got and all the other additions, seems like you'll be leaving alot of power on the table with a #19 and no tune. If funds are an issue, I'd wait till you can afford maybe a custom cam and have the car dyno tuned.

This is spot on. Ed Curtis charges 320 bucks for a custom grind suited to your needs and exactly to you combo. Google flowtech induction and check him out.

Other players are Jay Allen of camshaft innovations, hitech motorsports, and Buddy Rawls to name a few.

Read this article by Buddy Rawls. Its fantastic and explains what some of the guys here are alluding to. For the record I also recommend saving for a custom job.

There's no guarantee it will not freak out the ECU in fact others on here and Corral have had idle/tune issue with the #19 cam. Also it has been reported the #19 cam to be a bit weak up until 3,000 rpms when it really wakes up and gets moving. Good luck and hopefully it goes well with out issue

I agree with you 100%

I've seen on more than one occasion .........
very similar combos in fact ........

One has pretty good drivability
yet
The other won't settle down for squat

in fact others on here and Corral have had idle/tune issue with the #19 cam.

Every time I see this concern brought up for discussion .....

My first reaction is ... Who Cares
then
When I think of the money I laid out to be able to say that

I somehow don't feel so flippant about that quick reply

Also it has been reported the #19 cam to be a bit weak up until 3,000 rpms when it really wakes up and gets moving. Good luck and hopefully it goes well with out issue

I almost made a reply yesterday along these lines
but
I had no data to support my suspicions
soooooo
Believe it or not ... I refrained from saying anything

Well I'm under the impression he's looking for a cam to just through it in and drive so he should be aware that he my be in for a rude awaking. And I believe Rio and other have reported the slugish feel the cam has below 3g when wakes up soon after hence why I through it out for food for thought.

Well Danny

The thinking of ... "Since such and such cam worked wonderful in his Stang
sooooo
Its a no-brainer ... It will do the same in my Stang"

In the past ... I used to post something every time I saw those threads
pop up but finally came to believe it was a waste of my time

Since I had no hard data to give credibility to my efforts .........
I quit posting as I felt others saw the info as ............. opinion only
and
You know how it is with opinions

I searched through all my files as I was sure
I had some stuff about that cam

But I didn't

The bell ringing loud and clear ........................
about its soft low end was valid however
