Hey guys
I want to install steeda pulleys and was wondering if you need to tune the car after installation with those chips? it's for gt 08 with k&n intake.

No you do not need to tune for them. They are worth ~6 rwhp. Rent the tool, too.

Because you're not really messing with AFR's or Ignition.

You're just removing some belt drag from your accessories.

The only things that need tuning are things that mess with your air/fuel ratio. The underdrive pullies just change the percentage of power being given to different parts of the engine. They generally take away 10% of the power going to the water pump and give that 10% to the crank, thus making it rev faster. That does not affect the air or fuel delivery.

It's not affecting anything that would need to be corrected for tuning. It's a mechanical mod to make the motor reduce drag that the accessories create.

Yes, I felt a power increase. I gained 6 rwhp according to the dyno. They are easy to install, too.

Not to mention before them with my 555s I couldn't scratch third but now I can.

I think install for me was 45min - 1hour. I pulled the radiator fan. It doesn't take long and gives you a lot more room to get your impact down in there.

Rent the Chrysler Harmonic Balancer Puller (3 Prong) from a place like Autozone. I also pulled the e-fan, it's easy, and it makes working in there a lot easier.

There's more to it than that.

I'm banned, so I don't know if I can find the post, but there was a long discussion as to why you running small diameter "underdrive" pullys on a Modular isn't a good idea.

It looks like they could be the reason a lot of oil pumps have failed.

Basically, they're not designed to dampen harmonic imbalances in the crank outside a narrow range. When you get some RPM in the motor the crank and oil pump gears make contact, resulting in shattered oil pump gears.

You also get a toasted motor.

It's not just Steeda, but because they tend to sell more of them than most companies they get most of the bad press.

Looking for the post now...

Alan
