How complicated is it to install the Steeda X2 ball joint and bumpsteer kit on a 2001 GT? Are only basic hand tools needed? I am definately going to get the bumpsteer kit, but have not decided on the X2 ball joint yet!

Thanks for the help!!

Steedas website has a "HOW TO" article on their website for the bumpsteer kit. I would imagine the balljoint, would/could be covered under a Chilton's or Haynes repair manual, seeing as how you are just replacing a balljoint.

it looks pretty straightforward, you should have no problem. only thing is you have to drop out the strut and tie rod.

basically most of the work will be done at the alinement shop. you install it as close to parallel to the arm as you can. then at alinement they will ajust the spacers correctly.

there are instuctions. sounds to me like the the alinment is going to cost you after you have these installed.

can you really use these to x2 ball jointslower your car another .5 wile raising the roll center

I checked out Steeda's website and never noticed the "How to" article before. Very informative and they give a great explantion on bumpsteer.

Thanks!

to remove the ball joint you need a ball joint tool. It is basically a big C-clamp with some spacers to press it out, cost 40$. To install the ball joints you need a press, cause you can't get them in with just a vise. I did this last week, it wasn't that hard but time consuming, took some propane heat to get them out too. I put the stock ball joints in instead of the x-2's. The car is only lowered 1.25 and have centerdrilled rack bushings so I didn't need the x-2's. laterz
