I'm spending a lot of time looking for the next set of wheels. I have a set of 17" chrome Bullits on my 69 but now everyone has them!

FR500's would be one choice, allthough I'd need the fronts to be split, narrowed and welded to 8" width. I've found a local shop that can do it at a fair price. NP.

I've also looked at 17" Cragar 342's (steel). It would certainly make for a different appearance and I like the all black look: http://www.cragarwheel.com/catalog_pg8.html.
But it seems they are only available in 0 offset? For the front a 0 offset on 8" means 4.5" backspace = ok. Rears at 9" width would mean a 5" backspace wich is 0.5-0.75" too little.... :( Anyone with experience with either making this backspace fit on a 69, or with changing the backspace on a rim (splitting & welding it twice). Seems like a lot of welding and heat to still be expecting the rim to be round? Not to mention the cost going into an inexpensive steel wheel... :ban:

Thoughts?
