Once I remove the nut and bolt at the firewall, I'm wondering if the shaft will slide out easy or if it's crimped in there and I will have to beat on it for 3 days with a BFH.

Car is a stock 1992 with low miles.

once you pull the single bolt out at the top they usually come fairly easy, a little PB Blaster goes a long way there as well...

Only because you keep it so "highly polished"

Hey you're the one bragging about how your easy your shaft slides into your steering column.
I was just taking a SWAG that if it slid that easy into a relatively tiny hole, you must keep a high luster on it.

Err, it was what you said,... Right?

With proper lubrication any shaft should slide out nicely. Especially if said shaft isn't very big to begin with or the opening is overly large.

The key really isn't in the polished surface, Mike. It's in the quality of the lubrication used to initiate proper installation depth.

Quality??Phht! All of the how to's I've ever watched, shows that most of the "installers" just use regular old spit as a lubricant for proper shaft insertion.
Disgusting, I know. You'd think your steering column would have that "smell" you get when you lick your arm to deal with.

Oh Mike. I worry about you sometimes.

But in an effort to maintain some degree of technical relevance in this thread, you shouldn't have any problems removing your shaft.

What does it mean if your column rattles due to loose bolts and nuts?

Seriously, one at the floor and one (or is it two) at the top takes out just the shaft, or the whole column?
