Steering wheel/column problem

I put a steering column from an 88' mustang into my 92. Everything fit no problem but I noticed before installing it that the wheel spins around without the key in it, it doesn't lock. Also, once it was put in there is a lot of play turning it back and forth, this is with the car off and the key out. Being that this is an adjustable column I tilted the wheel down and it looks like the bushing right after the tilt may be gone. How can I fix my problem?

Also, if anyone knows which wires are for the horn I'd appreciate it... I need to wire the horn up because the plugs are different from my 92.

Thanks

PM me your email address and I will send you a complete Ford Factory 89 Mustang electrical diagram set. The zip file is 2.5 MB and is too big to fit through Stangnet's email gateway.

The wiring for the steering column should be the same for 88 and 89 Mustangs. Just be sure to move the connector pins on the steering column connectors. That way if you ever have to go back to the 92 column, the job will be much simpler.

They are in a zip file format to reduce the size of the package. You’ll need WinZip or other Windows archive tool to extract them from the zip file. See MajorGeeks.com - Download Freeware and Shareware Computer Utilities. for a free download.

You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – Adobe - Adobe Reader download - All versions

Just so you guys know, this started after I swapped the entire column... figuring there was a problem with the shaft I swapped the shaft I had originally in the 92 back in while keeping everything before the shaft up to the steering wheel from the 88. It doesn't seem to be my tie rod ends although I do have new ones to toss in. My main question is ,are there any bushings up by the steering wheel? If not I'll just go out and get a Maximum Motorsports steering shaft and be done with it.
