Stinky Converters

Does anyone notice their car smelling after it is driven hard then parked shortly after that??

I believe it is the cats. It has gotten worse since my air fuel was brought down to 11.8.

Just wanted to make sure I am not smoking something else

How many miles are on your '03 and are these the original cats or aftermarket?

Honest to God guys, it smells a little skunky. I sniffed areound the car thinking maybe it was the brakes but it is definately coming from the exhaust. My wife and kids even noticed it. I called the guy who dynoed the car, he says most 03 & 04's smell a little.

Like I said, it went from 16.3:1 to 11.7:1 on the air fuel. I think it might just be cooking exhaust fumes while it's sitting there.

OK so I am not the only one. I believe or am theororizing that since it was running way lean and is now running rich, the converters are forced to burn more residual fuel and they just stink while they are doing it. It drives perfect so I am gonna keep my eye (nose) on it and not worry too much.

Didn't stink today!!

For anyone how cares, I drove the Cobra today. Purposely did not get on it on the way home. Drove for 20 minutes, parked it, sniffed it and it did not stink.

So, I get on it and immediately park it, it stinks. I wait a few minutes, it doesn't. :spot: :spot:
