The Kenne Bell kit looks very promising definitely not cheap though! $3700, but by the time I spend $500 her and $500 there to get performance I would probalby have $2500 to $3000 in it anyway. So I am seriously considering this option.

I don't see how I would get challenged anymore than I do now if I don't change the outward appearance of the car.

I don't think this is always true, with my 98 I have a full exhaust on it and people to me seem scared, like whoah whats he got done I better not try it. So who knows, I know when I am prowling around I am looking for things that are modded, ie exhaust, wheels, lowered, etc.

I love my Mustang, don't get me wrong! 485 hp deserves respect, though, whether it's in a Mustang or an F-body. Unfortunately, having the ability to reach 485 hp for only $2595 + labor is something that we Mustang owners can only dream about.

You think you got it bad, I can't even go to the grocery store or gas station without every freakin vehicle on the road, cars, trucks, motorcycles, old ladies on Vespas, you name it, revving at me! Most are obviously kids just yanking my chain, but damn, when Jeeps and Silverados keep revving at you, I just gotta say WTF??

That's another option, instead of modding the GT, trade it in on a Mach 1 or Cobra, and just kick the **** outta the Camaro's and Firechickens! LOL!

It's too bad we can't put LS1 engines into our cars. SLP offers a head and cam package for the '97-'03 LS1 engines that raises the power to 485 hp. It's all streetable, too. All that for a low price of $2595--less than what we'd pay for a blower. You better hope that your competition doesn't have that installed!

You could also go the cheap route since you didn't buy the car to race it. Just don't.

I hardly ever get challenged. Now they closed down the last drag strip within 3.5 hours of me!

Okay here's the deal. I am 37 years old and didn't buy this car because I wanted to race anyone. It seems like every Z28, Trans Am............and yes Taurus (I actually had an old man in a Taurus ask me if I wanted to go yesterday............it wasn't much of a run though, my 15 year old was cracking up) pull up next to me and want to go. Mainly it seems like it is Z28's and Trans Am's that will go out of their way to come after me.

What kind of quick, easy and inexpensive mods can be made to this car to just make it, shall we say, not an easy mark! I have had one person I know who owns a Trans Am tell me to put different gears in the rear end, a K&N injection performance kit, a cat-back flowmater system, and some of the pulleys and it will run a lot better, is this true? The car is an automatic so I am down a little to begin with. Does a performance chip make a difference, if there is one, and what kind of mods would you have to make to run a chip in it. Sorry if I sound like a novice, I am much more of a bike guy and when I have my FZ1 under me I can't find a single Trans Am, Z28, Corvette, or Cobra for that matter that feels like playing. 140hp on a 450lb package that runs 10.7 seconds stock is hard to deal with...................LOL

If I had unlimited funds I would love to put a 4 valve cobra engine in the car and leave all the GT markings on it. Then see how they feel afterward.

Get A 03-04 COBRA
Ever since I bought my cobra not one car has approached me. My 01' GT was molested until I added the Bassani Exhaust. That backed them off some-what, then the full Saleen body kit & Oh yeah the Saleen supercharger. That kind of caught there attention. Then very few would bother me.
If I had to choose one I would say exhaust..

Who says you can't? A little more fabrication sure, but other than that, probably not too much more difficult than a 4v conversion. Of course you would be hated by pretty much everyone on the planet! Besides, you would wake up the next morning with a mullet. A serious overnight-mutation with serious side effects.
We all know how goofy a mullet looks sticking out of the back of a motorcycle helmet! Justa flappin' in the slip stream! Even more trashy than those white trash fake testes I see hanging from the back of trucks.

My hubby and I both have the speed bug....it's a competition to see who gets the new Summit catalog each month. Granted he's going for the Dodge parts, but I have known him to rip out the Mustang section just to spite me....

Id get a **** kit put in you AUTO. HOw cheap are you looking for? Most chips can be instslled on a stock motor and see good gains, but you need them reformatted when you make mods to your GT. I recently bought a computer upgrade off ebay called the intimidator II, it was only $30 and I saw a ton of difference at WOT. Good luck.

No, I don't have a mullet. I guess I'm just a bit more open-minded than some people. I realized pretty early that it's hard to compete with cars that come factory stock with almost 90 rwhp more than the '99 and up Mustang GT (the LS1 engines are underrated in the Camaro SS at anywhere from 325-335 hp. They make more than that). It's not impossible to compete, just hard. Face it, Mustangs have a power handicap when compared to LS1 F-bodies. Sure, there are many ways to overcome that, none of which are cheap. I prefer the Mustang to the Camaro; that's why I bought my '01 GT. Nonetheless, I still appreciate the fact that an LS1 can make 485 streetable horsepower with a simple head and cam package from SLP. My comment earlier about swapping an LS1 into a Mustang was only intended to highlight the fact that it's easy and cheap for an LS1 owner to modify his engine to make huge power gains, and that I wish we Mustang owners had the opportunity to do the same. Granted, I did forget about the 2003 Cobra as an option. I have a GT, as do the majority of the people who post here, so I was really only thinking along the lines of modifying a GT. A Kenne Bell blower installed on a 2003 Cobra would absolutely put fear into any street racing competitor's heart...

did i already say a direct port nitrous kit. custom tuned flip chip, direct port kit and a set of drag radials for the rear and you have a mid 12 sec car @ 110 or so. not many cars on the street are going to touch that, but like i said go to the track if you are going to race
