I have a 5.0 in my 66 mustang convertible. After getting everything out of the way, I dropped the stock oil pan to replace it with a small block Cobra aluminum oil pan. But the oil pick up is in the way, it hits part of the bottom wall and you can't line up the pan or raise it high enough to start any bolts. Looks like I need a different pick up? Is the 289 oil pick up needed or is it the same as the 5.0?

I have come to the conclusion that the pan has to slide to the rear of the engine slightly past the bolt holes to clear the pan baffel which is canted forward but has room underneath for the pick up. But this requires pushing the bell housing & tranny back about 2 inches because the pan lip is tight againist the bell housing shield. :bang: I think I will save this job for the winter!
