I'm not totally differential ignorant, but I'm not sure what it would take to turn my stock open diff into a limited slip unit. I'm assuming I would need new everything anyway. Also factoring in the cost of this, would it be better just to go to a 9" rearend? I'm not planning on 500hp anytime soon and would just like it be bullet proof for the street. Thanks in advance for any info.

You can probably get away with the stock 8" Housing if you change the carrier:

This is a unit from Currie Enterprises.

I imagine a 9" would cost quite a bit more than a beefed up 8".

If you are gonna go that far with that much power you will probably need to upgrade the splines too... might as well put a 9" in to give you a solid foundation.

Well the "500 HP" was really more an exageration. I'd probably never see 400 for what I have planned for the car. Probably never see slicks either. Is it possible to build a really tough 8" for under $750? I have found some complete 3rd members for around $650.

iskwezm: If you don't mind me asking. How much did your combo run you?
