Guys,

Finally got rid of all my engine codes and i expected the engine to run like a top, but i was frustrated to see that my car would NOT burn out if i punched on the gas. I could not get the tires to break loose.

My car is completely stock.

Is this normal?

pretty much the norm for an auto with stock gears. I have a 91lx with cai, catback and o/r x and it gets very little rubber with the stock gears.

Guys,

Thank you so much for replying. So the lack of rubber is some what natural until i start pounding the mods on right?

Im keeping the aod and i was thinking of going with 3.73 gears would that wake things up a bit?

Im pretty new to mustangs and cars with manually adjustable distributors for that matter. Im a camaro guy turned stang owner. How much of a difference will advancing the timing help?

Front Disks. Rear Drums. Step on the brake. Step on the Gas.

Got it?

Stock AOD with 2.73's won't really burn rubber without doing it from a brake-stand.

If you have decent tires on it, it will be even harder.

After i did 3.73's to mine, i could spin it all the way to 2nd gear

Oh yea i did a brake stand and got it to burn out, but i guess going from a lt1 camaro to this mustang i thought it would burn out with no problem. I had no idea they had 2.73 gears. Geesus!

Would you all recommend i do the 5-lug swap at the same time ?

My wife's 89 lx w/aod is bone stock down to the airbox and it can do burnouts no problem (my wife gets pretty pissed when I do it :D) I dunno what gear it has though. From a red light I can stand on it and it will lay rubber through the intersection. Maybe I have a factory freak?

4.10's really? I thought they be TOO much gear for a stocker. I was thinking 3.73's. I do plan on doing some engine upgrades, but as of right now i've got no money to do anything but dream lol.

I plan on going with with the following when i get my tax return:

AFR 165 Heads
Edelbrock RPM intake manifold
255lph fuel pump
adjustable regulator
