I just installed a vortech V-2 sq with anderson power pipe. I droped it off at the tuners and he told me that I was probably looking at around 370-375rwhp. Well I just got a call yesterday saying that its making 408 rwhp and 415 ft. lbs. of torque. But at 4700 rpms my 38 # hr. injectors (the ones from vortech) are at 100% duty cycle, so he wants to throw 60 #hr's in there because of the power I want to make down the road. What I really want to know is how much power can I get out of this stock block and stock internals before I have to start worrying?

hey , where you at in Va , dont know about all that , the 38s should be good to close to 450rwhp or more , I have seen cars with blowers and 30 lbs injectors go 380rwhp before before they were maxed out so I dont see how they are maxed out that soon .....if anything just step up to 42 they will definitely be enough , oh and to answer the question 400-420 is about the limit on stock internals ....

Step up to 42 lb injectors and get a richer tune to lower power to about 400 thats pretty much max safe hp on stock block well you could go a lil more no more then 430 but more then 400 and id worry everytime i punch it.

yeah 400 is the max even on a good tune at that power level is pushing it, all it takes is for something to go wrong and there goes your stock block. So i would start to save up for froged internals or forged short block

You really don't want to go over 80% duty cycle with injectors. If you plan on making more power in the future get the 60s. You can always tune for less fuel but you can't for more. Just my .02.

There isn't a max HP the block can handle. It depends on the tune. As you have probably read, there are people making nearly 500 on the stock block with great tunes. There are also those who've blown up the stocker running less than 400 with crappy tunes, bouncing the rev limiter, etc. You're on borrowed time running a supercharger or turbocharger on stock internals period.. whether it's 6psi, 9psi, 14psi, etc.. just don't kid yourself and think just because you're around 400 that you're safe. Every blown application should realize this, and have a plan to forge down the road.

Bottom line, don't be surprised or dissapointed if you blow the stock engine up.. they aren't made for the kind of power most of us desire.

Can you keep the stock block if you get forged internals? or do you need to get a new block with it? im new to the forced induction stuff and im looking at getting a blower really soon i just need to find out what else ill need to make it work fine without a worry of blowing it up

your actual block is fine, you just have to forge the internals. some just buy a whole built block cause it is put together professionally which is what i plan to do

which vortech blower whines the most? ive been looking at a kenne bell 1.7 because they are supposed to be like the best, but prices are to high so now i want the obnoxious whining sound from under the hood but still enough power to make it worth the money, im tryin to keep it with stock internals until i can get the money for the forged shortblock. What all rearend parts will have to be upgraded?

I dont know which one whines the most, but the V-1 has a pretty loud whine to it. Espically at idle. For the read end, you should upgrade your gears to some 373's or some 410's depending on what you want. I have 373's and love them. You can get away with not upgrading your axles as long as you arent going to be using any type of slicks, but I would plan on upgrading the axles anyway.

get the 60's 100 percent duty cycle is BAD. you don't want to end up running lean.

BTW those good to X horsepower things like this injector is good till 400. that stuff is just a guide. some setups will need a bigger injector at a lower power level.

Well the chip, programing it and the dyno pulls came out to around $600. But we decided to try the 42 # hr injectors and they worked just fine. It came out to $1052. I dont know what my numbers are yet. Excessive called up my buddy at work to tell him the numbers and how much the bill was (casue he knows all the guys down there) and he looked at me and said, "Your bill was $1052 but I'm not gonna tell you what your numbers were, you'll have to see it to believe it." I'll post them when I get them... The suspence is killing me.
