Im going to be picking up a set of gt40 heads and an aftermarket intake manifold and cold air intake. Was wondering if tfs 1 cam is worth the hassle or a stock cam in my 91 302 ho with 1.7 rockers. This is in my lincoln mark 7 i converted to 5spd and has 4:10 gears.Still not sure if im going to be running long tubes or shorty heads.Basicly what im trying to find out is how much more hp does tfs 1 cam make over a stock cam?And the car also has been converted to maf.

It would be a nice little gain with the added head flow and intake. The stock cam is not a bad cam, but I really like the tfs 1 for a mild off the shelf cam. I would say since your already tearing the heads off, pop off the front cover, put a new timing set in, and enjoy a better suited cam. IIRC the tfs 1 is a cheap cam compared to others also. Hope I was of some benefit.

Just another dumb newbie question how much hp can i see from doing full intake and exhaust shorty headers 2.5" x pipe and gt40 heads and tfs 1 cam.Prolly bump the timming a bit to w/e 93 octane will handle.

with those parts and all the supporting mods 270ish to the wheels. I run that exact combo. Gt40's, edelbrock performer intake, TFS1, bbk shorties, 70mm tb, 90mm maf and its no comparison to stock. really takes off at the top of 2nd gear and the tfs1 will pull higher than the stock cam will. great street combo and you will be fighting the urge to wind it out between stop lights.

A stock speed density 86-88 cam plus 1.7s is a pretty good combo. Wont have the chop of the Tfs, but plenty drivable. Stock cams aren't all that bad.

With that said...I have a tfs1 going on my car :)

be sure to replace your springs

Prolly gonna go with ls6 yellow valve springs.Considering guys are getting rid of them for damn near free. Not to mention a beehive spring is always a nice upgrade.

THanks for the info guys. For now its gonna be stock motor with just exhaust.Going to dyno that. Then once it gets a little nicer out ill toss on and dyno it with tfs 1 cam, either non p or p heads, edelbrock rpm 2 intake, and basic throttlebody upgrades.Hope with those upgrades ill be able to get my mark 7 in the high 13's as it does have 4:10's.
