Yes I have searched, but have come up with no help. I am finally starting to restore my mustang back to looking stock with some slight modern upgrades :D. First I want to repaint the engine bay with spray cans(that will last 4 years until I can afford to have it professionaly done). I was wondering what the paint code was used for the engine bay of mustangs. Also, was the grill painted the same color as the engine bay or was it a different paint?

The paint in my cars engine bay is really ugly due to a carburetor fire from the previous owner. I know dupli color is a reliable company, I just need the paint codes. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Eastwood sells a more expensive version that is supposed to be the correct semi-gloss used on most cars of that era. They also have alot of underhood and chassis paints in cans for brackets, master cylinders, etc... Don't know about a code in particular, just look for semi-gloss. Some of the cheap ones go on to thick and cover detail while others are too shiny.

Krylon 1613 is the correct one, and is what I used.

Imagine that paint 2x worse and the result is the color of my engine bay:rlaugh:. Although the block and everything else is clean because I used Super Clean to remove the grease. still do I paint the grill this color or a different 1?

i perfer the 7777 rustoleum satin black, it doesn't seem to fade as bad the krylon and looks much better IMO. i'd show a pic of mine but i decided to put a clear coat on mine afterwards, in hindsight i would have have used a satin clear instead of the gloss

Dont worry, im more than happy to help as have others who helped me :flag:.

Anyway I got a 1 quart spray bottle for about $4 from Georges Auto Supply(Madera, CA) but it should be sold at Autozone, Kregan, Oriely, Etc. I dont like using that foam stuff, it makes a big mess.
