Sorry, I did try searching on this topic and came back with dispersed and unsatisfying results. Right now, I have an 04 GT and want more sound than my weld-in 40 Delta series are giving me. I do not, however, want to remove the midpipe.

I have a question on which way to go or if there is something better than what I have here:

1. Hollow out the stock cats, leaving o2's in place and functioning (will this throw codes?) and keeping the Flows.

2. Keep the cats as they are and going muffler-less.

3. Keep the cats as they are and getting Flow's 10 series (one-chamber).

Drone is not a concern. I fancy the sound, actually.

Thanks for any advice.

I think you'll want to save your stock H and not gut it incase you ever need it for emissions. And, if anyone else needs it they'll pay some good money if they have to pass emissions:D. I think the 1 chamber flows are the race mufflers? I think they have the most drone but like you said, that's not an issue. That would give you a louder sound. You can always buy a catback and keep the factory midpipe. Magnaflow or the SLP straight throguh designs will give you plenty of volume while keeping the stock H pipe.

SLP Cat-back

I strongly suggest swapping out the mid pipe. From Iowa are you really worried about emmisions or is this a cost thing? I swapped my mid to catted pro-chamber with flows, it was loud, but not enough... switched to SLP catback from there and its loud, but after a few months now I want it louder... and thats not gonna happen cause I have to have a catted mid :(

Iowa = no vehicle inspections, so emissions are not a problem. It's mostly a cost issue, as I am a new to the parenting thing, finding out it costs a lot!

I had heard the Flows 10 series was an option, but I think the inlet/outlet sizes are not conducive to the stock piping at 2.25".

I want to keep the stock mid pipe while I'm still under warranty to avoid any garbage or BS from the dealer (I'm planning on taking my T-3650 in for the TSB repair even though I don't have a serious problem as of now).

Anyone ran the stock mid with just straight piping in place of the mufflers? Does it sound Confederate? I think it would also possibly cause a loss of torque from the dramatically decreased backpressure.

i too think the flow 40's are a little quiet.. i would get the one chambers and a off road pipe. BTW why do you want too keep the stock mid pipe?

Just get a o/r x-pipe for like 115 bucks and the mil eliminators and extentions for about 60. you'll probly spend less and end up saving time and money in the long run the intall is also very easy asuming your manifolds let the bolts out without a problem. Then your main consern would be making sure your wires don't fry.

I put full exhaust on my stang in a buddies shop. No major problems just time consuming with the long tubes... worth the sound though! The mid-pipe back was a cake walk... mmmm cake.

Just my sugestion, but don't ever straight pipe a mustang of any kind and brag about it.

Backpressure. I don't have any plans to modify intake, except for port and polish. Without some resistance, won't I have a loss on the bottom end?

well you might loose a little tiny bit of bottom end but that will be off set by power gains up where you use it when on the car.

you don't race or have fun at 2k rpms. most fun stuff is done above 3500 rpms

Anything less, would be uncivilized...

And change out your mid-pipe for an aftermarket one. You DO know that *technically* they can't void your warranty for having aftermarket parts. The only way they can void it if you get warranty work done, and they can easily prove that your aftermarket part WAS THE CAUSE of the neccesity for work to be done to your car.

For example, if you get a cat-back, and then all of a sudden your transmission breaks, or grinds from 2-3rd, and now you take it in for warranty work...they can't void your warranty unless they can prove your new cat-back caused this...which they couldn't.....

For another example however....if you get 4.10 gears, and then throw an axel, and take it in for a new axel under warranty...clearly they would void it becasue the 4.10s would be reason enough for them to cancel your warranty (whether it was in fact the 4.10s fault or not for breaking the axel).

That almost sounds like legal advice :rlaugh: regarding the nullification of warranty. I was fearing OR H because of the dealer negating the effects of the warranty. Anyone got any sites where there is a cheap H without cats?

Anyone?? Would need eliminators, too, I suppose.
