Stock Rim Tire Fit on a 69

I have searched and seen a lot of different opinions on larger wheels but little on the 14" rime which would fit in the rear of a 69 without rubbing and would like some help. I have the stock SS 14*6 rims, gas shocks and would like to go as wide as possible but have no issues with rubbing. Can anyone give me some insight as to what might be a good fit?

Not fully sure I understand your question. If the question is how wide a tire can I put on the 14x6 rim without rubbing, you are not going to have as much a rubbing problem as you will tire problems by putting too wide a tire on 14x6. I ran 235/60s on my 14x6 and felt that was the limit for that rim. I have a set of wheels with 245/60s and they are all worn in the middle, great tread on the outside.
As for putting wider 14" rims on, I can't be much help, but I would imagine the rules that apply to larger diameter rims would also apply to the width. So, 14x9s would seem to be the widest. Just my $0.02.

What is the widest tire I could mount on a 14x6 rim and not rub is the question. Did the 235/60's you ran look ok in the wheel well? I am trying to stay with the stock rims at present and want to have as wide as is safely possible on the rim to help with traction.

I have the same kind of 235/60's now mounted on 14x7" rims on my 73 Fastback. When I get it back on the ground I will shoot you a picture and post it(--but that will be at least a week out). I liked the look when they were on my 69 as they looked meaty (when compared to the F70's it had so many years ago). The 73 is a bit bigger car and they don't look as good/wide as they did on the 69 from what I have seen thus far, but still good

Sounds great. I am in the middle of a total restore (trunk replacement now) but hope to have it on some new rubber by fall. It actually still has the dry rotted F70's on the front and super wide 60's? on the back as it sits in the garage. Looking forward to the pics. Thanks.
