Stock tach broken?

Ok heres the deal my stock tach on my stang works only when it wants to only when in high RPM, and sometimes will spin BACKWARDS! hahaha....

anyways I was wondering if there is a way to fix it or is it just shot cause i have a 5" Monster Tach that i've been trying to aviod installing cause i hate that big ass thing but i do need to know what rpms im cruising at.


BTW i installed a shiftlight in the stang last week and it works fine.

The stock tach is an inaccurate POS to begin with, I would trade in that Monster tach for a tastefull on and install that.
