stock Tach reads to high

i searched and could not come up with any thing the tach in my 93 gt vert does not work right. When the shut the car off the needle zeros like it is supposed to, but when it is running it will go no lower than 3500 rpms it seems to move at the right rate, i just reads way to high all the time. It is a auto so no that big of a deal but still kind of annoying. thanks for any help

check connections on the wire harness at the coil. The green wire with yellow strype is the tach wire......maby unhook and put an aftermarket unit in
