I need some help. I am about to sell my stock bullitts without tires for Black bullitts and I have a great deal on stock black ones and aftermarket 17x9's. My question is how will the stock tire sit on the 17x9 rim? Will it be too noticeable that the stock tire is too small for the rim? Or will i be able to pull it off? I would rather have the 17x9 so that when the stock tires get old i can get much wider ones. Please let me know asap thanks.

The stock tire is a 245/45/17 which will fit a 17x9 rim. In fact it will look the same on the 17x9 rim as it does on the stock 17x8 rim. Trust me I know because that is what I have on my Cobra R 17x9 rims.

No problems with the handling. Here is a pic of the front with the 245/45/17 tire on the 17x9 rim.

Well I'm confused MustangMike - your sig states you're running BBS RK Plasma Wheels 18x8.5 (F) and 18x10 (R) with Bridgestone Pole Positions ?

Hey I just posted a different picture on my original post. Stangnet wont let me post anything larger. In the rear I have 275/40/17 on 17x9 rims.

They do fit but nobody will convince me that the tire looks to fit the same. The side wall looks fatter when putting 245's on a 9 in rim. I changed to a 9 in R rim and in my opinion it doesn't look good but I'll deal with it until I wear this set out and go with 255 or 65's.

yea i have the BBS rims and i had the stock bullitts in anthracite but i wanted to change them and get black ones. I use the bullitts for the winter. And it would be a nice change fo summer too!

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification - hell, I'd just like to have ONE good set of rims and rubber for my 02 - the stock Goodyears, at 25K, are done.
My wife has 275/40-17 Bridgestone RE-750's on her 9" Cobra rims - the perfect fit, awesome wet or dry grip, rim guard (heck, you probably know this, you've got 'stones!)

The difference between the 17x8’s and 17x9’s is only about 26mm. Not enough to completely balloon the tire, but noticeably narrower just the same. I’d think it would handle a little better, since there's less lateral movement because of the reduced sidewall area, but would also decrease ride quality for the same reason. Nine-inch rims are just begging for 274/40’s anyway.
