This might be a question commonly asked, if so, I apologise...
I have the stock T-5 in my 88 LX. I made a bad pass and bent the shift fork, now I have to hold it in second and fourth because it pops out. I have a buddy who knows how to fix it, so I'm not worried about it. Here's the question: I have heads for the car and will probably get an E-cam and a Cobra or GT-40 intake for it. Will the T-5 hold up or no? If not, what should I do. Mind you I'm on a tight budget and I have to pay for all my parts.

You are going to end up blowing your tranny. The t5 is just about worthless in mustangs. You are going to have people tell you that they race theirs every weekend and have no problems with it, but that doesn't happen with many. I would recomend upgrading to something a little more stout.

The T5 is hit or miss. Some people have great reliability and some just snap If you are shifting hard or using Drag Radials, chances are you are gonna break it pretty easily. Even the later or T5z trannies are marginally stronger. If you are nice to it you should be ok but other than that you will have to upgrade to a TKO or Gforce. If you are on a budget try to find a good used 3550. They are a pretty stout tranny and usually found for a reasonable price. Note if you are going to change to any other transmission don't overlook other things that need to be changed like xmember, bellhousing, and clutch.
