Strange smell from engine

so about 2 weeks ago i pulled up to the school parking lot and one of my friends said he smelled something like burning clutch. i knew it shouldnt have been that because i had driven just like i do every morning. no gettin on it or anything. i finally noticed a few minutes later that it smelled like hot glue. i popped the hood and checked for leaks or any sign of trouble. i hopped in my car to make sure i still had oil pressure and to make sure my fuel system was ok. it doesnt happen everytime i drive but it happens about 1/3 of all my trips. any input you can give me would be greatly appreciated. i want to make sure i dont have a serious problem. thanks in advance.

Best thing to do is put it on a lift and check the underside for leaks or maybe even a plastic bag melted on your exhaust.

you guys are definitely geniuses. i slid under the stang and sure enough, there was a plastic bag wedged into my x-pipe. i managed to pull most of it off but i'm gonna borrow my buddy's lift and clean it up soon. thanks for your mustang expertise.
