I have a 03 Cobra steering shaft on my 94 Cobra clone, perfect swap. The 03-04 Cobra steering shaft has a stiffer bushing, resulting in more "feel", as it were. Of course, if that bushing is shot it won't help you any.

So, if you look at the pic on the first entry of this thread, were the red bushing is, just under that, it slids in to another piece that is shaped the same, i suppose to telescope, mine was just slightly out of shhape on the outer part, so...the question is, can;t i just weld that sucker ?????????

Sorry, I don't check StangNet as often as you do. The steering shaft in the photo you showed should telescope - all 94-04 OEM ones do. If you choose to weld yours, that's up to you. But telescoping is intended to allow the steering shaft to collapse in an accident. If it doesn't, it can impale the driver if the accident is bad enough. Seen too many photos of 50's and 60's cars with the steering shaft through the roof to want to weld the steering shaft, myself.

I have the Maximum Motorsport shaft. U joints, DOT approved collaspable, and welded vs. allen screw. More expensive, but absolutely worth the money!!
