Street Scene Grill Installed

Well after waiting about 3 weeks for my Grill to arrived I finally got it. I consider myself kinda lucky since there have been some waiting for over 3 months. So I open the box and I can say that the quality could be better for the price that they are charging but here are the pics and the problems.Here are some pics of the OEM grill with the lights. Notice how everything lines up perfectly as it should from the factory.

Now here is how the lights line up in the Street Scene Grill. 2 of the brackets are way off center.

Well I bolted the lights down. I had to bend out one of the tabs to get the screw to make it but look at the 4th mounting tabs. There is no way to make it work.

The Street Scene Grill is very flimsy. I was afraid that I was going to crack it when I screwed down the lights so be careful.

Here is the final install. Looks good.

It took me about 20 mintues to install. For the price is should have been alot better. It should have been made from thicker plastic that wouldnt flex so easily and all of the mounting tabs should have lined up. I made a 1 inch bracket for the last mounting hole and painted it black. There was no way to make it work.

Hey Gixx1300R,

First - GREAT Pictures and Feedback regarding the SS grill. Thanks for the contribution to the forum.

Second - In looking at the light set up from OEM grill to SS it almost appears that the mounting brackets for the fogs would have lined up better if you would have swapped and inverted them -Rt to Lft. & Lft. to Rt. I am not sure if the fogs are unidirectional in that they are required to be remounted in their current directional setting. I have had some that were specific Lft./Rt. and others that were not. Either way for the $ they are asking for the grill, I concur that the change out should have went a smooth as butter. I will wait for a bit to see if the manufacturing quality gets better as they perfect the process.

Third - No matter the install issues that looks frakin SSSSWWWWWEEEAAATTTTT!!!!!!

Nice appearance modification. I agree that the information you posted here would be best served if shared with Street Scenes, it can only make the QC better.

Not saying a lot for their customer service now is this? You have no email address or website address where you can send them an email?

You are right, it looks like after a few hits on their grills, that this is not the only grill they have fabricated with clip and retaining bracket issues.

Yours did indeed turn out nice, yet I can see individuals with limited patience snapping and bending that grill. Bummer....

I tried calling and Faxing Pictures with no luck. I wil try again on Friday. I will not try to email them since they probaly wont return my email. Hmmmm. Maybe I can talk them into a recall. If not maybe a Lawsuit will do

Errrrr.... Let's not talk lawsuit.... heheheheh you are still too new to know how I feel about utilizing lawsuits to settle product warranty issues. Claims under breach of the Uniform Commercial Code are not easy to win since it is up to the Plantiff to prove and provide a proponderence of the evidence. You cannot sue for any pain and suffering. With that said I am probably "singing to the choir" here, but, just in case......

---Check what written warranty was provided with the grill.

---Check for the specific steps that need to be taken to advise the company that you are seeking a warranty claim. Sometimes this means sending a registered letter to a street address and obtaining a return receipt of delivery.

---If you receive no resolution via their written complaint process, you can then defer to small claims court under contractual jurisdiction.

---Since you have installed the grill and have obtained "usage" out of the product, claim amounts will probably be prorated, unless you return the grill for a full refund. This would really be dictated based on the end usage you received from the grill.

Remember it is amazing what word of mouth will do. Ensure that you advise the first human being you contact that you advise them exactly what your expectations are, what you are seeking in terms of resolution if any, and tell them that you are a member on a fairly large Mustang forum and unless you receive a resolution that is fair and in-line with your expectations you will ensure that you firmly recommend noone else purchase their grill, and let them know you are already making recommendations for another grill, and tell them who.

In this world of competative aftermarket appearance and performance modifications, the advisement of bad press among 5,000+ 2005 Mustang owners floats more heavily than the threat of a lawsuit.

Good Luck and let us know what happens. This stuff interests me.

Jenn. I'm just venting. I"ll try to get this resolved. I dont know who makes the HoneyComb Grill. As soon as I find out I will let you guys know. Here is the Gap. It doesnt fit very well. This is going to be a Show Car eventually. I cant have parts like this on my car. Notice no gap on this side. The outside edges of the SS grill is plastic

Powers - Ya it sounds like the same deal with me. The mounting locations were good on one side and the other side the one was 1/2 way right and the other just off totally. Also when I popped the grill back on the recepticle for the driver side fog light plug was hitting the frame of the car. I had to push it down under the frame to get it on and now you can't adjust that light up or down really.

I also have the 1/4 inch gap but I have it on both sides.

Stanmckinney - The grill is a plastic ring with a metal grill inside. Its pop-riveted into the ring. The light mounts feel plastic just like the OEM grill.

I don't have plans to make this a show car and for the look I can live with it not being perfect. I totally understand your frustrations Gixx1300R for the price the QC should have been a lot better.
