Just wondering what could be more beneficial Stroking an engine to 5 liters or Boring it to 5 liters?? Or a combination of the two????

Is Boring and Stroking even worth it on a 4.6 or are we better off just fordging the stock spec internals?????

I'm knew to the whole 4.6 scene, but...

You can take what I have to say as worth a grain of salt, but seems logical to just stroke it. Is it gonna be N/A, bottle-fed, force-fed?

I heard boring is better, stroking is a waste, forging is good, but thats just what i heard.

I like stroking it . Either way you go, why would you only take it to 5 liter? Take it up to a 331 or larger.

Really gonna show how much I know about 4.6's here, but can you do that to a 4.6? If so, can you safely run boost through it?

Well I know you can't bore the 4.6 to much do to how thin they are. A combination of boring and stroking can get up to 318 cubes I believe. But if you have to identical setup 4.6 engines except that one is bored and the other is stroked, which is better? Regardless of being blown, bottled, or turbo boosted???

...I would think the thicker the cyl walls the better. (for N20 and Boost) But if you're just gonna leave it N/A then bore it to your heart's content I guess.

I don't think stroking it is benificial unless your get a big bore kit or something. I would rather bore it because if you stroke it then it will rev slower. If you bore it then it won't rev any slower and you will still have more cubes.

i would rather have a big bore, using darton style sleeves. the larger bore will unshroud the valves and allow the air/fuel charge a better shot into the combution chamber. plus the stock stroke is already 3.55". thats mightly long. a boost in bore from the stock 3.552 to 3.700 is ideal IMHO

What he said. Larger bore is more beneficial to our motors, without a doubt.

324 is the largest modular 4.6 base i have seen. 331 is a 5.4 i believe.

plus having a more standard size overbore, 20 or 20 over is a lot cheaper than sleeving a block.

Exactly..

But with that being said you CAN make power on a regular stroke, regular bore(.30 over) 4.6 .

just wondering...
doesnt a longer stroke rev slower, but give you more low end torque?

My 5.0 stroker revved right up to 7200 rpm and did it in a hurry and even wanted more but we ran out of fuel so I wouldn't exactly say a stroker is slow revving.

What are you talking about? There are thousands of cars of different make that have had strokers put in them. Go to a race track and they're everywhere. Who claimed to know more than your "mechanic" anyway?
