Guess it depends on how involved you want it to get. A stroker would be cool. Or a 5.4 would be cool. Although a 5.4 DOHC, bored and stroked, with a blower, and a wet shot would be the coolest.
Please keep in mind you'll want to get a good tune with a stroker and if it is the first time you've been inside a motor take your time. If it is your first take a bunch of pics on the removal stage, draw some pics, tag/bag everything so you get it back together right. I would plan at least 3 months of downtime you should be able to get it done quicker but it is better to over plan a time table than to rush and harm something.

VT engines has their stroked and bored 324. i am heavily considering this approach opposed to a supercharger. get it built with 10:1 or 10.5:1 CR and you will have some very nice torque and HP numbers. add PP heads and some solid cams and i cant see why you wouldnt be running in the same area as most blowers are.

i was reading about this on another board. With MPH heads cams(didn't say what intake) the car dyno'd at 380hp and over 400 tq. But that block isn't cheap. I would like to have a NA beast like that.

Yep....stroking with a blower will get you there. A nice Paxton Novi 2000 or a T-Trim Vortech would be the cats behind, but 600rwhp ain't gonna be cheap. You could do it with the standard displacment too, you just have to push the blower a little harder. You might want to take a look at the set up jimfitzgerald has and shadow yours after his. He’s running a stroker set up and a Novi 2000 and makes a little over 600 to the wheels.

If you go their website the 324 street is priced at $9k with FULLY ported heads and Crower cams. That would be very sweet indeed.

i'd go with MPH heads as they have better flow rates, and are cheaper the VT. cams, well, they are the same cost regardless.

the VT guys said that 400 is easily done with the 324. one question i do have about the MPH setups is if he went higher compression. True the block its self is not cheap, about the cost of a blower, but you are getting blower power FROM the block, so its a trade.... that and you dont have to worry about the block gound south from too much power. VT also recomends dropping on a load of nitrous on the higher CR 324 if you need even more power. so, think about it, near 400 hp on the motor, then adding another 200 with nitrous.... really makes you wonder about going blower with this as a viable option.

On the last page of August 2005's MM&FF, there's an ad for www.coasthigh.com

You can get a 418 long block, 650hp and 575ft/lbs for $6700
Or... you can get a 514 stroker kit for $1400 or shortblock for $2900

Just putting it out there...

but they are not mod motors, not only will he have to change the motor but everything else as well....so the cost will rise with those set ups...and have you ever been in a 600hp pushrod ford? They are not exactly daily drivers, not that i don't like em...but the newer technology is far more reliable. 600 hp in a mod motor car can be fairly tame!

why not just do a forged bottom end .020 over with some nice ported heads, cams and a big blower?? the stroker sounds cool but real world they don't gain nearly as much as a stroked 5.0 so to me the cost is not justified.

if going just stroker on a stock 4.6 then i would agree. however, taking the stroker concept with the .3 (no not .030) bore to give the effect of the same ratio of bore to stroke, just enlarged on both respects. the bore for the HP and the stroker for the torque... when applied to a higher compression will equal and in some cases surpass that of a blower.... and like i stated before if its still not enough then throw on a nitrous kit, which everyone agrees that dollar for dollar is the best power mod, and spray the hell out of it... its already forged. I have already talked myself out of a blower and will be going with the 324 myself once i finish my suspension.
