it sounds pretty good.
im not sure if those are forged pistons or hyper though.
also, that $699 is a great price, but also it is the current bid price. if you can get it for less than 800---its a steal.
email them and ask them what its balanced to---i dont remember if it said it on there. 28oz is better than 50---but 50 is stock.

i really like the 331. but my buddy has a 347--they make more torque, better for the street--and that is nice.
that kit will be nice for ya. your 93 came with hyper pistons, these (most likely) are forged.

The picture shown has a H-beam rod, so an I beam will look a little different

I have not heard a lot of great things about a HAWKS crank, and the crank is nodular iron....not cast or 4340 steel. It also doesn't tell you the brand of the rods, they could be HAWKS, CAT or any other generic brand, you get what you pay for in most cases...

A good cast kit can be had for $999, cast Scat 9000 crank, Scat 4340 I-beams, Probe SRS series pistons, Total Seal or Childs and Aberts rings and Clevitte 77 main and rod bearings...balancing will cost another $150 check out www.adperformance.com scatstroker@hotmail.com Brian is a great guy to deal with and there are no surprises you get exactly what you order and support and tech info as well.

i would save the money to get a good forged kit, you get what you pay for definitly, Probe is a good brand of pistons to go with. Save your money and do it right, better to be safe than sorry.

this kit includes I-beam rods, and hyper pistons. I wouldnt use this kit if you are going to use a power adder. And no it is not balanced.

The money that you save on buying the cheaper kits will most likey be put towards balancing the assembly. Do it right the first time

Well every kit you buy has to be balanced so there isnt any savings in buying a more expensive kit. Either they charge you in house and use generic weighted bobweights which is bad!!, or you buy the kit and pay to have it balanced locally. The only way the balance is thrown in is if you pay them to do it, or you buy an assembled engine and the balance is included with the cost of the short/long block.

When I got my kit I paid to have them balance it. When I sent everything to the machine shop they said it was close, but not good. I paid again to have it balanced the right way and then had to fight with the company to get my money back for the balance. Turns out most companies that sell kits do large amounts and dont have time to set up the weights for every combo. So they have a generic bobweight for 347's or 331's. This will get it close and lower than factory stuff, but not a quality balance that will get you in there perfectly. My machine shop said it was good enough to run, but should be perfect for an engine like this. He showed me the numbers on the machine and how it all works. If I buy another stroker I will have it balanced locally.

True that you have to spend money to get it balanced to your flyhwhell/flexplate and balancer to get it near perfect.

Buts its going to take more time to get a crappy Hawks stroker crank to say, 28 oz as opposed to a piece from say Scat or Eagle.

Read th part where they talk about the stroker crank for the 393 and the counterweights. Real quality piece if you ask me.....

i wouldn't buy anything from this guy if i were you. i've talked to them and they are the real slick type. when you order you part, you best know what to expect because they sell a lot of generic and knock off parts. you do not get what you pay for, even if it is inexpensive. a couple friends of mine got ripped by these folks. the pictures never represent what they sell. i have a Coast High Performance(Probe Racing) 347 kit and the quality is very nice. just have to save enough to get it balanced correctly then i can start final fitment. coasthigh.com
their prices on the site are not always accurate. i find that if i call them, the prices are better. also, spending a little more to get good customer service appeals to me. they've been very helpful everytime i've called them. i agree with the others, do it right the first time. you may have to spend more initially but you won't be going back and redoing the job later, or as often. good luck with your search.

I'm not defending hawks stuff, but it does say the photo is not exact, and when you see the amount of stuff they sell, you'd start using the same pics over and over again. Summit does the same thingon their website. I've actually ordered a lot of things from TMD and met them in person and they are good to go. If you look at their feedback, they have a 99.2% rating out of 4130 auctions. Thats pretty good customer service if you ask me especially considering how difficult some people can be to deal with. The only problem I've seen is my friend ordered a flexplate, and the manufacturer that made the part screwed up the bolt pattern. They took it back, paid for shipping, and sent him the correct one.

They also carry AFR heads in stock with free shipping for like $1300. I think AFR is name brand, and any company that has AFR in stock is good crap because all AFR heads have to be custom made, and the price is great.

All AFR heads are not custom made and AD Performance has a lot of them in stock for $1285..... FTI stocks them as well...

With internals you generally do get what you pay for... Most of the cheap knock off parts require a lot for machining since the journals may be out of round, crank weight is all over the place etc.

I have built a few engines using the SCAT 4340 and the SCAT 9000 series stuff and have not ran into any issues, the motors are running great and my guys are still very happy....

AFR builds every head per order so in a sense they are all custom made. What I am referring to is that they do not mass produce heads like edelbrock and such because they dont have the equipment. You place an order, and they build them. Thats why they seem so elusive to get because they cannot keep up with demand. They just dont produce them and distribute them. Places like TMD place an order, AFR builds the heads and then they ship them.
