Does anyone have a list of high quality strut tower braces that would on a 07 GT with the factory plenum cover, without any modifications, shimming, hammering, welding, or accepting the bar compressing the hood liner?

BMR makes one. Their products are great quality.

I have heard of some rubbing issues with the BMR and the hood liner, but I may cave in and give them a try.

Any brace is going to rub on the hood liner. Some people's plenum covers have been rubbing on the hood liner. The brace, while it may rub, will protect the plenum cover.

Do I need to lower the plenum cover with the BMR?

The cheapest route is to just get the GT500 strut bar from the dealer, it will run you about $60.

I think a lot of people established the GT500 OEM STB wouldn't completely clear the hood or plenum on the 05-06 GTs. I have heard conflicting reports on 07-up.

Mine touches the hood blanket, but it's not bad. I'm not sure about the plenum cover as I don't have one.

Doesn't the ford racing stb clear the blanket and plenum? I have a ford racing stb, i have a plenum cover, but haven't instaled it yet.

Again, considering a lot of people have the hood blanket rubbing on the plenum by itself, I'm sure any STB will rub with the plenum cover. But, they are designed to fit under the hood, so it's not hurting anything. Like I said, it actually protects the plenum.

I have a GT500 STB with no hood clearance issues on my 06, my hood insulator rubs it but no hood buckle, a friend of mine had a problem with the hood buckle but it was a easy fix by putting a washer under the brace on the 2 rear strut tower studs which angled the brace down enough to clear the hood.

Did you have to lower the plenum cover or do any other mods?
Do you have the stock hood?

I have the Steeda stb with the plenum cover on my 07. I am not sure if it would be considered high quality or not. I guess that would be up to you.

First of all, placing washers under the brace doesn't lower it, but instead raises it higher. As I've tried it, and it just didn't help.

I would also recommend to both yourself, and your friend. That you take a real good look at both sides of your hoods for bulges. Trust me you'll notice them.

He said it changes the angle, which I can understand though I haven't actually seen them. And they were placed only on the rear which would tilt the whole thing forward and perhaps lower the overall height.
Other opinions? I would be nice to know before spending money on this.

It seems that as long as the bar is below the height of the cowl, it would fit under the hood.

So where exactly are the rear studs located, towards the firewall or the front/grille sections ?

When I tried reversing the STB. The only way it would clear the hood, was without the OEM plenum cover. Otherwise the STB would lay directly right on top of the cover. In fact it also raised the STB completely above the studs, in which you couldn't even place the nuts back onto them.

Where is your air filter? I didn't think Prochargers worked with STB's.
