..then it comes alive when it hits 2K. This is all part throttle driving and it really doesn't matter what gear it is in. The studdering also occurs very mildy at idle, once it's warmed up. I did a search but could find anything quite like this.

Thought I would probe for ideas before checking everything it could possibly be.

Any changes under the hood recently (like around the time you noticed the issue)?

Nothing changed in the last 6 months or so and it's been running fine.

It almost sounds like a miss while under a load.

It feels a lot like it did when one of my plug wires came off while I was driving, minus the backfiring. I'll be checking for codes and looking for any visible problems with the wires, later. I hope it's something fairly simple, but with my luck, probably not.

I think I found my problem!

For some reason, one of my plugwire boots was resting on the header. MSD's must be pretty tough, because it had to have been that way for a while before it melted through. Not quite sure how it happened, since I was very careful about that. But, who knows, I was kind of in a hurry to get the car back together last time I touched them.

Guess I'll find out when I get it changed.

Definitely sounds like a miss. Its either electrical or mechanical. I would start by changing plugs. While changing plugs, you should check compression on each cylinder. I had a situation where it had a miss at part throttle and I changed everything. It was driving me nuts! I ended up doing a compression test and found #8 to be at 0
