..then it comes alive when it hits 2K. This is all part throttle driving and it really doesn't matter what gear it is in. The studdering also occurs very mildy at idle, once it's warmed up. I did a search but could find anything quite like this.

Thought I would probe for ideas before checking everything it could possibly be.

Any changes under the hood recently (like around the time you noticed the issue)?

It almost sounds like a miss while under a load. I had a crown vic that would miss at only 70 mph it took me a while to figure it out, but with the help of a ford electrical guru it was resolved.

Nothing changed in the last 6 months or so and it's been running fine.

It feels a lot like it did when one of my plug wires came off while I was driving, minus the backfiring. I'll be checking for codes and looking for any visible problems with the wires, later. I hope it's something fairly simple, but with my luck, probably not.

I think I found my problem!

For some reason, one of my plugwire boots was resting on the header. MSD's must be pretty tough, because it had to have been that way for a while before it melted through. Not quite sure how it happened, since I was very careful about that. But, who knows, I was kind of in a hurry to get the car back together last time I touched them.

Guess I'll find out when I get it changed.

I really hope it isnt the plugs. Just because I hate changing them.

When I cleaned my MAF it did exactly what you are describing. Turned out that I broke one of the wires and the EEC went into a safe mode.

Sounds like my post above about down on lower rpm's. It also hesitates sometimes as well.

Definitely sounds like a miss. Its either electrical or mechanical. I would start by changing plugs. While changing plugs, you should check compression on each cylinder. I had a situation where it had a miss at part throttle and I changed everything. It was driving me nuts! I ended up doing a compression test and found #8 to be at 0
