Well you can always drill it out instead of using the easy out. Just use a bit slightly smaller then the bolt so you don't damage the threads. Once it is drilled out and you have removed the portion that is stuck in the threads you need to chase the threads with a thread cleaner. If you damage the threads you will have to re tap the hole. Think of it this way, whats the worse that could happen you have to upgrade to a good set of aftermarket heads

word. I may do that too. We'll see. I need to get a 90 degree drill and a hard set of bits. What type of bits would work well?

The bits at the machine shop are your best bet. They'll have Left Hand Drill Bits.

Too late for telling how to get a bolt or stud out without twisting it off.

Unless you use a right angle drill on a daily basis your going to drill cockeyed. Count on it.

And studs are hard.

Do yourself a favor, pull the head and work on a bench. Better yet take it someplace that has experience and the tooling, break off an easy out and your looking at EDM to salvage the head.

I've had to deal with this situation too many times and there is great potential for it getting ugly quick.

its gonna be near impossible to drill that right, and space is gonna be really tight even with a right angle drill... Time for some aluminum heads...

Well I went ahead and just installed the headers without removing those bolts.
