stupid brake noises

Need some opinions

Last week I started hearing this noise coming from my brakes and it was doing it while the car was moving. when i hit the brakes it stopped. the noise sounded like the pads were lower. so, i changed the pads last saturday and they were low, but i didn't turn the rotors. i put everything back together but i still hear the noise. :bang: do you cats think i need to turn the rotors or is it something else? i'm not to familiar with the ford brake setup. help please

It's always recommended to turn your rotors when replacing pads, unless turning them would take them within the minimum thickness. There are a few reasons for this, mainly being that they have wear patterns to the old pads, and will accelerate the wear of new ones, and not turning them can cause new pads to glaze, which would cause terrible squeaking while driving, and or braking. The third reason is that they may have warped some over time, and turning them can take the warping out, depending on how bad it is. What does the noise sound like when you're driving?

Sorry to hijack thread but i have a similar brake problem.
Since i changed my pads all around there's always one loud high note noise coming from one pad when I brake... What can cause that ? I've driven all summer long with that noise but it's damn annoying.

Thanks.

did you both use brake cleaner on the rear of the pads and caliper and then use anti-brake squel (i call it blue-een or something like that)

Common squeal can be attributed to dirt behind the pads

btw: with a hydro-jack and the right tools, this can be done fairly quickly b/c you don't have to compress the caliper or anything... so i'd just do this real quick first.

the cheaper lifetime warranteed metallic pads do this alot when i buy a pad i ensure i use one with shims to help quiet brakes. oreillys sells a pad they guarantee not to squeak. if you have lifetime warranteed pads you can return to place of purchase and upgrade only paying cost difference in pads this is what i did until i got a set that did'nt squeak. but i believe (CERAMIC FRICTION FOR QUIETER PERFORMANCE, VIRTUALLY DUST - FREE BRAKING) ceramic is the way to go.

thanks guys. i went to a shop earlier and they told me it was the hop assembly. i don't believe that crap because i check all of that last week:bs: . plus the noise that i'm hearing is coming from the passenger's side and these cats were looking at the driver's side. so, i'll get the rotors turn or save for the 13'' rotors with 2 piston calipers
