I'm sure that this is dumb question but I am completely new to mustangs so bare with me untill I learn. I was wondering, if you were to have a 1999 v-6 mustang, could you swap the engine for a 4.6L and still use the same transmisson?

I just looked at a web site and it said "The 5-speed manual transmissions are carried over from 1998, with the V6 using the T-5 and the V8 using the T-45, both now sourced from Tremec".

so i guess the question is whether the 4.6L V8 will connect with the T-5 tranny, and if no, you might just want to get the new 3650 transmission...

Yeah, that was basically what I was wondering. I'm not sure if the T-5 will be able to support the added power from the 4.6L. I will probably have to go the way you were saying, with the T-3650. But it sure would be nice if I could use the T-5 until I could afford get a T-45 of a T-3650 or something.

Alright, so the T-5 will work if I get a different bellhousing. I dont think that you can change the bellhousing on it so i will probably end up having to buy a new transmission. Hey thanks for the help guys.
