Looking for the most bang for the buck setup with lower control arms and sub frame connectors. Dont have to be made by the same company obviously.

Just trying to figure out what features are good to have and if anyones design out there is superior to other brands. For example, what do Steeda's Zinc Plated Full Length Subframe Connectors do so well?

How do you think spintech's subframes perform? I still dont have the idea of running side exhaust down the line out of my head and i think you have to run their subframes to run the side exhaust setup.

Anyway, just looking for opinions.
Thanks

and is it right that upper control arms are not needed that much at this point? Or that they wont make much difference over stock stuff?

Bang for the buck would have to be Partshopper.com's Mac Upper and Lower Control Arms (red ones) for around $200 shipped. If you want adjustable ride height the bang for the buck would have to be the J & M's also at Partshopper.com. There are many options out there for peoples needs, aluminum, steel, adjustable height, adjustments for pinion angle etc. So, you may want to see what your needs are then find the best to suit that.

Sub-frames are the same deal, what do you want. bolt-on, weld-in, round tubing, square tubing, jacking rails, thru the floor, roll bar mounts, etc. For the buck, what you said is good. My choice would be the KB extreme matrix but the cost reflects no bang for the buck.

Well I went with the best they had (IMO) without being too over the top, I run the Maximum Motorsports RLCA's with The Global West Full Length Subs with seat connectors. The quality of both are top notch, and they were both very beefy. I was wondering the same thing about the uppers since I've yet to change those. I believe Killer runs the Global Wests as well for the subs.

What do u mean by seat connectors? Just trying to get all the terms and features down.

How much have you invested in those two things? How big of a difference did u see?

Connectors are not that much in the whole scheme of things so IMHO get full lengths. I have MM and i like them. I got a shop to weld them in and they come with some torque box reinforcment pieces as well as crossbraces that strengthen the floor pan where the seats attach. All for $115 (i think thats what i paid for them, before labor). The welding is whats gonna cost ya if ya can't weld.

How much for custom subframes? And how much do shops usually charge to weld subframes in?

I have the X2C control arms and the Kenny Brown weld in subs that have the seat brackets. They really helped in the handling/launching of the car. Big time Here's a couple pics.

Not my car. But you can see the subs+seatbrackets

I'm running Global West full length/weld in w/ seat brackets powdercoated black. Check out their website and look @ part #929. They have inner & outer rails, inner are tubed/ outer are boxed and used for jacking. both rails are connected by 4 welded crossmembers. Most heavy duty subs I've ever seen, used or heard of outside of something custom....but they were expensive!

They sent me the coupe set and I have a vert, so I have this exact set to get rid of (new in box) if you're interested @ half what they ask

They're extra braces that weld on to the subs and also bolt to your seat rails on the bottom. Both my global west subs and my mm rlca's are tubular, and are very beefy. My subs are weld ins, but from what I remember they had bolt in available as well. I think both the rlca's and the subs came in somewhere between $450-500, been a while since I've had them on. Didn't notice any difference sotp difference with the rlca's...however the subs were a huuuuuuuuuuuge night and day difference. And no more rattles to boot

on that pic up there, if you've got the driveshaft safety loop, is there any point in having the dogbone too? seems like double protection...

The dogbone has nothing to do with a driveshaft loop. It's sole purpose is to dampen vibrations in the pumpkin. Half the time, it's only good for ballast.

<-- Stock gears, stock driveshaft, no dogbone, no problems.

you'll most likely be charged 1 hr labor. Guessing you shouldn't pay over $80 at the most.

i had 175 into my custom subframes.. But they went thru the floor... I need to get off my butt and take a film of me jacking my car up because its unbelievable how well these are tied together... I can jack up on almost any point and lift 3 tires off the ground at the same time.

Do all subframes hold that strong to jack it up like that? What kind of shop should i go to for custom ones?
