Sub-Frame Connectors

I am about to install a pair of subframe connectors on my 65. It looks like there isn't enough space for it to fit at the leaf spring eye bushing.

Has anyone else had to do anything about clearance issues with the leaf spring bushing?

It also looks like it will be difficult to get the leaf spring eye bolt out with the mufflers installed.

I would greatly appreciate any tips to help with this install.

These are the bolt on type. I do plan on having them welded sometime soon.

I have not seen a sub connector that would block access to the eye bolt, perhaps you need to choose another sub.

Bolt-on sub connectors are cosmetic, not functional. As much as I avoid welding things to the car, these should be welded if you expect them to work.

I was just told by several people that the bolt on style fit better. I plan on having them welded soon.

I still have an issue with the exhaust though. The muffler is too close to get the leaf spring eye bushing out.

Do you really have to remove the exhaust from the car to do this?

Has anyone else had to move their muffler out of the way?

Strange. If they fit so well why do they block eye bolt access?

I have never had to remove the exhaust system to access the eye bolt. What sort of exhaust do you have?

The fit was a different issue, which turned out not to be an issue at all. It was more of a user error type of deal.

Since the instructions are not that clear. I couldn't tell at first which side subframe connector was L and R.

I guess I will have to remove the mufflers to get the bolt out. I have never heard anyone say they had to take their mufflers off though.

The subframe connectors came with new hardware for the spring bushing.

If your exhaust was done right, you should have a removably center section. You should just be able to unbolt the back half of the exhaust from the center piece. If not, I suguest taking your car to an exhaust shop and having them make the modification. Makes changing your clutch a lot easier.

I have to drop my mufflers on my SN95 to change lower control arms. My exhaust is setup like this and its a snap.

I took the mufflers off. I have band clamps from Summit on my exhaust right now. I did it this way incase I have to drop the T5 for a clutch or some other project.

The subframe connectors are installed now. I also had them welded at the muffler shop when I was there for intermediate pipes.

Can you tell a big difference? Did they remove your fuel line to weld the drivers side?

The car feels much more solid than it ever did before. I also have a one piece export brace and a monte carlo bar.

They didn't remove the fuel line.
