Subframe connector???

What is the difference between the subframe connectors on Ebay that go for around $40 (weld on style) and the ones from Griggs, MM, and the like. I know that the Ebay ones are usually not full length but I have read that there is no difference for a street car with full length vs. standard. I am just wondering if anyone has the ones off of ebay and if they like them. I mean they seem like pretty simple things, just a good peice of steel tubing with some seat brackets. Just want to save cash if there is really no difference.

Do not chance it. I wouldn't trust any no name subframe connectors. Remember that it's welded on and not bolted on. So once they're on, you're stuck. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!

Just cough up a few extra bucks and get MM. World of difference on my car. It's a vert and trust me I felt a whole lot of difference. Better for the car. Then again any subframe is better than no subframe.

yeah those ebay sfc's look like toothpics compared to my griggs full lentgh sfc's. If I had it to do over again though, I'd probably get this.

it's got a cross brace for added stiffness as well as arched section for an optional side exhaust that most sfc's don't let you get away with. Sure it's expensive but believe me, EVM is revolutionizing the suspension and frame of the mustang and the customer support is quite literally the BEST I have ever dealt with bar none.

wtf.. thought I already replied to this thread to add a couple questions, but I guess not.

1) A lot of the subframe connectors I see specify a difference between GT and Cobra for the standard length ones but the full length usually just say "mustang". Do full length always fit either one? The ones I am particularly looking at are the MM ones.

2) I remember a LONG time ago seeing it mentioned in some sfc threads that some full lengths would make it so you could not install an IRS brace. Can anyone name some specific ones so that I don't accidentally buy them, as I hope to be having the money for sfc's shortly.

jimi, do you have a cobra with IRS? check MM's website. if there is a difference between IRS sfc's and solid axle sfc's, their site would have a different set listed. that'd be the best way to tell.

I wouldn't go with no-name SFC's either. You need some "hardened steel". The possibility of cutting corners in their material to pad their profit margin is a risk not worth taking, IMO. You can get Kenny Brown Super Subs for $90 ... well worth an extra $50.

Just my $0.02, though...

Are the kenny brown sfc's full length or standard? Doesn't say on the website. Also, can the jacking rails and extreme matrix brace be added later? I would imagine they could be, but if anyone can say for certain I'd appreciate it.

1) KB super subs are regular length (not all the way to the firewall).
2) Yes.

I would get any brand name full length subframe. the ones on ebay suck. you dont have to sell out the $125 for the MM you can get some steedas or kenney brown or D&D has a good set I think for pretty cheap.

I also forgot to ask...what is the difference between the powdercoat and the bare steel with the MM sfc's? does the powdercoat just keep rust away? or does it add extra strength?
