Subframe connectors do not fit a convertible?

Hey Guys,

i was trying to install my BBK/Gripp Subframe connectors. THese are the bolt in kind, but was going to bolt them in, drive to a shop and get them welded in place. Nothing on any website says there are different versions of these for Convertibles, however, when i try and fit them into place the rear subframe connector flange hits the metal support plate that goes over the rear subframe? Are there differneces in the subframe connectors because BBK does not say anything about convertibles or hardtop versions.

Let me know so I can get new ones if need be.

there should not be. can you post pics of what you are talking about? I am having a hard time visualizing it right now.

The verts have some BS bracing in the rear. You can remove it to access the actual rails (it's riveted on).

I would contact the manufacturer to see what they recommend (sometimes people reuse the factory plates and sometimes they choose not to. The design of the SFC's plays into this decision).

Well the maximum motor sports instructions are great. But what sucks is that means i just bough crap sub frame connectors, because the only way to get them on is to remove the rear support plates, and I don think that sounds like a great idea. I dunno what do you guys think?

pull the riveted braces off. When I put my MM subframes on I removed the cheesy riveted braces on my 93 vert. Basically all they do is add a little more strength to the rocker panels. And the rocker panels connect the front and rear subframes so when you put the SFCs on you have connected the subframes structurally and removed a lot of the load from the rockers thus the riveted braces are not really needed.

Ill post pics later. Im gonna get those off, then bolt the BBK subframes on. Then tommorow or friday ill take it down to have them welded in place.

Crap, I got the metal support plates off, but the damn subframes still will not fit. Im gonna scrap this project, order some Maximum Motorsport full-lengths and have a shop install weld them in. Frigging BBK.
