Subframe connectors Q

I was going to build my own sub frame connectors. Is there anything I should know or pay attention too? And what about these extra seat connectors that some companies list? Also, can you tell the difference? does it help times or just take the scare out of twisting your car to shreds?

I plan on buying some tube steel and bending it to fit the contour of the bottom and just welding it on to the sub frames. If I end up screwing up my g/f's dad works a big metal shop, so he could help out big time, but i want to try it out myself first, so any help or suggestions would be great.

Oh, and do you think bolt on or weld on?

i made my own couple years ago...for like 25.00 total...

used 1"x2"x.080 wall tubing..4' in lenght, i did not bend them to contour the body, just a straight shot....cut the ends on a 45 deg and weld caps on em...i didn't want square ends, in case they smacked something, which they never have...
i took some .080 sheet stock and cut 4"x4", couple 4"x6", and bent them on a 90 deg for the brackets to attach them...i have like 5 each side...you'll see better when you hold them in place so you can see where to weld the brackets...no bolts here...

I also made soem seat braces while i was at it...12' long X 2" wide x 1/4" thick...drilled the holes for the seat bolts ( which i had to buy longer bolts for ) mounted them and fabbed brackets on either side and mig'd in em.... i have a lift and the mig welder so it was easy....if you have the same stuff, its a day job to fab em up, weld, and paint em..They still look like the day i out em on, no twists, broke welds, nada...so don't go overboard on the thickness..

Rio5.0 is exactly right. If you got the tools, follow his instructions. If not or don't want to spend the time, definitely get ones with the cross brace. I got KB's, because I don't have the necessary tools. Wish I would have done this upgrade the day after I bought my car...oh well.

Weld is preferred over bolt-ons.

i was interested in a set of FMS subframes but for the price of the simplicity of it, why not build my own. i got access to a welder so thats no prob.

anyone else build there own connectors?
