Subframe connectors question?

I posted this question in another thread but I don't want to hijack so I'll start this one.

Are there any drawbacks to heating up the subs to mold them with the contour of the under body? I mean, cause I have clearance issues and I can't give up any room down there. Check out this pic from BensCobra:

Maybe it's just the angle, but it looks like the exhaust is lower than the subframe connectors.

Heating up the metal will spread out the molecules in the connectors and make the metal more flexible IMO. I would not do it.

thats why I dont have subframes. That plus im getting side exhaust.


My car already scrapes everywhere. I wouldnt doubt if they would get torn off.

I think some minor modification to SF connectors is normal to make em fit right.

The molecules would spread out more, but it's still going to be pretty sturdy. I mean, it pretty thick squared tubing.

i mean the SFC are what at most an inch thick. your rocker panels are deeper than that.

I did too. Roads here suck. I finally got tired of EVERYONE telling me to lower the car. Put uncut drag launch springs on the car. Now when a punk makes a comment about lowering the car. I reply "it has drag springs on it."

They usually reply.... oh, then that's okay.

I totally agree. I have a set of Super Subs and they are no where near the bottom line of the car.

My Steeda subframes definately seem like they fit tighter to the body than that...
