Subframe is cracked underneath driver's seat!

Damn, just bought the car! I installed the h-pipe earlier today and realized the reason my driver's seat is leaning towards the left=the subframe is cracked right where the left driver's seat bolt is at. The bolt is still there with the threads being okay but the area around it is cracked and pushed down. Has anyone gone through this and how did you guys take care of it? Time for subframe connectors! Maximum Motorsports or GRCs? Thanks for any help!

yep

Yep, mine had the same issue. It was a very small crack, but there was one (1.5" long, hairline crack)

What I did was remove the seat, pull up the carpet, clean the floor really well and then sand it down to rough up a 5"X5" section around the crack on the inside of the car. I mixed up some fiberglass resin and cut a 5"X5" square of fiberglass cloth and poured the resin and put the cloth in to give it some strength and seal it up.

I have full length subframes in my garage that are going on in the spring. In the mean time, I bolted up just the crossbar seat pieces under the car. So far so good.

Oh and for brand Maximum Motorsports all the way.

That is a very common problem buy a set of subframes with seat braces and you can also find a reinforcement panel that was put on verts and ssp's to weld onto it also just grind down your cracks and weld them up first

Yep, mine already had this brace but the floor still cracked on the rear left side seat bolt hole.

Mine was same way..except mine on both passenger and drivers side had enough of a crack for the seat bolt to actually rip completely off..nothing a little welding wont fix..I also have thru the floor subframes so did it at same time...

Every Fox I have owned has had cracks in the drivers seat area. My Capri cracked behind the rear outboard stud. Then the spot welds on the front bolts failed, and the metal around the outboard one broke like yours.

I put them back in with duct tape to hold them in while I tightened them about 10 years ago. Two weeks ago, I finally welded them again.

Put subframe connectors on, repair the damage to your satisfaction, and it should be fine.
