Here are some pictures of the fuel cell and how it doesn't fit into the car. Granted things will have to be cut. Just wondering if you guys had any thoughts, on the best route to mount it?

Demensions: 33x17x9 5/8 ( give or take on the width)
I would like to mount in about 3/4 of the way into the floor

You could build some stainless straps or something but I would just weld a flange around the outside to meet up with the stock bolt locations and bolt it on. I know that would ruin your powder coat but it would look better if you do a nice job welding.

Its a used ATL NASCAR cell, I have no issues doing that, though I pretty much have to cut, away all the stock mounting points to get it to fit. Though I assume I could do just the same, and bolt it to the trunk floor, and incorp. the simular bracketry like in Dodgestangs picture.

Thanks for the feedback, and if any one else has any thing to add please feel free, I get alot of other types of fuel cell when i google it.

My .02 would be to buy a smaller cell that will actually fit into the stock tank opening. Then you could make the proper brackets to hold it like you want it.

When I did my 67, I just plated over the trunk floor hole and mounted the tank in the trunk.

IMO i would mount the tank so that the bottom of the tank is no lower than the rear valance. That you don't see it, and I would also build a cradle for it with some straps. BTW how many gallons is that thing? It is huge!

Well I wanted a large tank, and a 22 gallon Mustang specific cell is like oh 1000 to 14000 which is crap. I got this Used Nascar cell on ebay for 199, although I need the check ball assmeble yet, I save alot of money, and frankly I dont have a issuse modify things for it to work.

Yeah I am thinking about cuting an appropriate space running sheet metal across with some some sort of bracing, and making a cradle for it. Also mounting a bit higher.

Thats a great deal!!! Yeah the mustang specific fuel cells are Mucho $$$$. Are you going to try and make the factory fill tube and gas cap work with the fuel cell? Is the fuel cell steel or aluminum?

Yes I would like to use the stock filler location, Ill prob have to modify the filler neck because of its steep way mounting. I would like the car to look as much as possilbe stock, though the stockness is only skin deep, because as we all know its whats on the inside that counts.
Though I will need to find/make/or modify a filler plate that incorparate the checkball ass. so I can use the fuel system and have a working fuel gauge.
