I recently purchased a GT40P Explorer engine to replace my tired 143k 302. Before I do this swap Id like to make some upgrades. Cam, RR, springs, and porting the heads come to mind. Ive tried to read as much as possible on what cam seems to give the 94/95 EEC the least amount of trouble. Im leaning towards the TFS Stage 1. Does anyone on here have a sound clip of one running with this cam in it? Id like to hear it before I decide. Any other tips, etc for making this swap would be appreciated.

For the cam sound, YouTube might be your best choice for sound bites. If you want a cam that will work good with the 94/95 EEC, although not the most powerful, the Steeda 19 works great.

If you didn't know, the "P" heads need "P" specific headers, due to the exhaust port location. MAC, and I think Ford Racing, make them.

The smartest thing to do would be to take alot of time, do alot of research, and develop a plan and goals you want for the car. Nothing is worse than having to do things twice, or spending more money than you have to.

Yeah I know about the headers being specific. Not an issue. Ill take a look at the numbers on the steeda 19 cam then. The plan is simple. Cam, some head work, headers, and a little Vortech for grin factor. Being the fastest isnt my goal. Turn, accelerate, and stop are my goals.

I vote for the TFS cam, seems to be the best for gt40 iron heads.

i had the same issue you did and I went with the GT40s and the TFS Stage 1. To be honest i dont think id like any cam any better. it sounds amazing and the car moves!

As far as the EEC, my car idled great with a great sound without a tune and made almost 300rwhp with this cam & ported polished n milled gt40s.
Mind you the car is still not tuned 3 months later and theres no need!!! My A/F is almost ideal throughout the entire range of rpms. Some rich readings down low but over 1800rpm its great.

+1 TFS stage1

Good to know. Did you switch to roller rockers, and if so what size did you use? 1.7, or 1.6?
