Summit Fan Relay Kit

I am currently trying to use the Summit brand fan relay kit 890016. It is 200F on and 185F off for a 195F thermostat. I took off the egr coolant passages and pulled the fitting out of the back passenger side of the intake manifold and placed my thermostatic switch here. It will not turn the fan on and I know it is plenty hot with it being 85F outside and hearing feeling the thermostat opening and closing. I have taken the wire off of the switch and grounded it and the fan turns on fine so I know my problem lies in the thermal switch. I did put it in a location that would work for this right?

As you know, having a 195* t-stat with your current on/off fan threshold will mean the fan will seldom shut off once you're up to operating temps (the stat will keep it from getting down to 185 for the fan to be able to shut off).

The fan switch needs to be in the flow of coolant. Be sure yours is not deadheaded someplace.

Where would a good location be in the flow so it will work properly?

I drilled and tapped the thermo housing and put my fan switch there... You might want a 180 thermo with that switch.

I am strongly thinking about placing it in the tstat housing. Are there no issues with the switch being right there...will it clear the tstat itself? I have been a Firebird/Trans AM guy for most of my car days and I know the stock fan switch on these cars turn on @ 225F. I think this would be good with the stock tstat or would you recommend going to the 180F tstat?
