I was just wondering if anyone runs these and if they are any good at all. I am wondering because I might be able to pick up a spare 306 block and I would like to drop it into my car. I was looking at the kits with forged pistons so I could spray a higher shot of nitrous on my car. hopefully build a 300rwhp N/A car and then spray a 150 wet shot on top of that.

If you have any input on these kits let me know.

Yeah those are the kits im talking about. Im just trying to figure out if I should get a shortblock from a place like DSS or CHP that is already assembled or use this 306 block that I can get for cheap and go from there. Im just trying to figure out which will be the cheapest way.

Be careful with a block that is already bored and they say its a 306. Often the mech. shop will take meas. of ea. piston and make sure the bore is correct. To do this you will of course need the pistons before the bore...so you may end up with some slop.

Also make sure the block is without a doubt a fresh 306. If it has been driven and taken apart it may need more work/bore.

If you just wanting to do an el-cheapo rebuild get it looked over and if its good, go.

For one I would want to get the parts mech. and gone threw before I just slap it together. I went over what it would cost to get a block gone thew, pistons, hardware (all ARP), rebuild kit, crank work, ball., ect and then looked at DSS. Going with a DSS I felt the shortblock would more than not be put together just as well as I could without me spending my time on top of the same or more money. The DSS was a hard deal to beat. Shipping may be an issue but I was not far so it wasnt much for me.

Well I know it is a fresh 306 block because it is my brother's friend block and it was actually meant for his brothers car but he wound up moving out to california and selling his mustang.
