Supercharged 2005 Mustang GT: Max recommended Boost?

2005 Mustang GT
S.O. Vortech Supercharger (8-9 Lbs Boost Currently)
3:90 Gear Ratio

I am getting a custom dyno tune on Sept 16 and am also swapping the supercharger pully to get more boost. I am trying to get an idea of what most people think should be the maximum boost I can safely put out without hurting my otherwise stock 4.6L 3v engine.

This is what happens with boost + Nitrous and no tune. With a good tune and 8psi you should be fine. However your engine wasn't designed for boost so someday it may pop. just start saving for a new short block sometime soon just in case.

i've heard the 3V can take 500hp safely on the stock bottom end

The stock powdered metal rods just like the ones in the 96-01 Cobras and 96-06 GTs are the problem. Those rods could fail at 400HP at high RPMs

The reason those rods flew apart inthe pics i posted was because of detonation.

It's all about the tune man
