I asked this in another forum but didn't get any answers so I'll try here

I know people bolt on s/c to the 4.6 3V all the time but how much can the bottom end safely handle. What about the tranny and rear-end?

the stock engine internals tend to let go around 425-450 rwhp. some have pushed the limit with more power, but most will agree that this is the "safe" range

i have yet to hear about rear end or transmission failures at these power levels.

also, for more detailed posts, you can do a quick search, and there should be quite a few similar threads to this one with all the answers you should need.

I've heard of a few stock driveshafts letting go at about 450.

Yes, 450 at the tire seems to be the common consensus of where you run into problems.
