supercharger ideas??

Well, it's only been 4 months since I've spent any $$$ on the '70, so I've decided it's time to step up my game. All I really have left to do on the car is the engine and the paint (interior, stereo, wheels/tires are finally done). So...instead of a total rebuild for $10,000 all at once, I thought I could tide myself over with a Paxton that would be compatible with this engine (351W)and swap over when I have it rebuilt. What's the least expensive way to go about putting on a NOVI 1200 OR 1500 and a demon carb??? Thanks for any help. If anybody knows how I could keep it under $3000, I would be very impressed. Thanks for any advice!!

I'm having the hardest time finding one for a 351W. There are tons for the new stangs, but no new ones.

I bought brackets for a fox body on ebay ($50) for my Vortech. The brackets bolt to the heads and not the water pump so will bolt to a 351W. I have 4 superchargers, and 2 complete kits I pieced together for under $1000 each on ebay.

Well, you can buy a complete kit with everyhting you need from Paxton to mount on either side(driver or passenger) for a little over $3,000.

1) How did you manage to add a supercharger for under $1000?
2) Can I do it with my 351W?
3) How much HP can I gain compared to a kit I can buy from Paxton for $3000???

I haven't installed my kit yet, I was going to throw it together but got some info that slowed me down. I bought the brackets, headunit, carb hat, and fuel pump seaparately. The head unit came with the pulleys, pipes, oil lines, bypass valve. I picked up the headnit and included items for about $500. The brackets were $50, fuel pump was a reman holley blue for $40, carb hat was $200, but I picked up two thers for $30 each. The fuel pump regulator I bought new but they go cheaper used on ebay, it was almost $200, it has a vacuum port that givea a 1:1 fuel pressure to boost inclease. I still need to build my carb. I got this from MDJay:

I have a Paxton Cobra kit that doesn't need the carb built quite as far but want to go with a blow through for tunability.

That's a great write up. That's Andrew who frequents the turbo site a bunch of us go to. Unfortunetly your holley blue is more than likely not going to come close for a fuel pump. If you still have your ecentric, run a manual.Then you don't need an expensive regulator.The only thing I can think of that would make any blo thru carbs different is if you run a box. You wouldn't need seal the throttle shafts, but nobdy really does it for a hat either.

With the regulator it should be fine. The regulator I have has a pressure fitting that "up"s the fuel pressure 1:1 per lb of boost.

The mechanical supercharger fuel pump works the same way. It has a diaphram and pressure fitting that keeps the fuel pressurized equal to boost+normal fuel pressure.

Yeah, did that, but it's only 7lbs of boost, comes out to $3100 after floats, jets and shipping.

The kit I pieced together will get me close to 12lbs for less than half that. Although, it is used, but I don't mind.

you should really think about another pump,you have the 7 psi the carb need, + the 7-9 psi for the boost,the Holley blue cannot supply 14-18 psi when its under full boost,I lost a engine due to the blue
I now have a billet pump capable of free flowing 22 psi and 140 GPH

My carb was set up for the blower,but it has a channel milled into the base with a fitting for boost to be applied so the gas doesnt get pushed out the shafts

Will any old head unit work or are there ones to look out for that don't? Is there a way to tell if one is worn out, like you can tell on a turbo?? Never thought about piecing one together.

Call Paradise Wheels,in San Marcos, Ca,they have new SN kits for $2000 complete and if you want the "Shelby" enclosure its $2500

Hey thanks for the tip. I want to keep it electric. I have a former EFI 351w and the timing cover is sealed and there is no eccentric. Maybe I'll look into a Barry Grant or Air Flow?? Any suggestions. I hear the BGs are quiet compared to the Holley Blue too.

I have Summit pump and it does ok,but if i was going to do it again, i would get a Magnaflow or Aeromotive pump.

and yes the Holley Blue's do make a "lil" noise

I have all Aeromotive stuff for my Procharged D1-X. Nice.

A67STANGMASTER, You'll need to custom fabricate your brackets for a 351C. It's really not as bad as it sounds. Start with a BB Chevy kit, get a 5.0 Mustang Renegade 8 rib crank pulley, a 5.0 belt tensioner and you'll figure it out. I did the same for a 460 and did a serpentine belt, a/c, ps and alt.

Yeah it does. I ended up with a holley efi pump. The thing is dead quite. And by the flow it should be good to 632 hp. We'll see. Right now it leans out on boost, but I have airbleeds and stuff to modify. The fuel pressure goes up as the boost does so the pump seems to be keeping up. If I can get it tuned I will let everyone know it works. i love TM.com but sometimes they tell you to buy the largest pump for 300 bux when you don't need it. So I'm on my own with this one. I got this one for 20 bux, so I gotta try it.

So did I read that right, there's hope for putting a procharger on my 351W (soon to be 427W)?
