supercharger ideas??

I've pieced together a vintage SN60 setup from eBay a couple years ago now for under $650 total so far. The original SN60 kit (originally for a Studebaker Hawk I think) was $450 shipped, and came with the headunit in good shape (and completely original) and with a bunch of other stuff. I subsequently bought a Turbonetics carb hat for $20, 2 double pumper Holleys for $40 total, 5.0 brackets and piping for another $70, plus a bunch extra pulleys and stuff for another $40.

All of that said, it all still sits in my closet collecting dust, since the car still isn't ready for it. I'm planning on using the OE fuel pump and boost referencing it, and since I'm only looking for 5-6lbs total, I should be ok. I'm also hoping to pawn off the extra Studebaker stuff I don't use and make a bit of coin back. I'd love to have it all done for under $600 and make 260-280hp at the wheels from the blown 302. Worst case scenario is that it blows up and I have to get a new stroker 302 or 351W and I get my 260-280hp that way.

If I can put a Ford T-5 behind a Plymouth 318 we can get a procharger onto your 351w.

i'm running a procharger p600b on a 1970 302 in my 65 mustang coupe. i upgraded the fuel system to -8 supply and return and am using a mallory comp110fi pump. works great. fuel system cost me almost as much as the blower. i changed to a fuel cell and built a trunk floor. i use a EV bonnet and a home built 600dp.i followed the hangar18 guidlines and the carb works great, no leaks. i switched to a serpentine belt drive in order to run the p600b and since the heads are the same on a 351 and the blower and brackets will mount the same on a 351, i would guess that the only concern you will have is the pulley spacing and belt lengths. you may need to make some spacers to line up the pulleys. march performace makes pulleys for the alternator and waterpump (standard or reverse rotation) it should be easy to find a p1sc used, and relatively cheap check here and other mustang sites and worst case ebay. i would look for the rengede brackets ( no AC) this keeps the blower close to the engine to clear the shock towers and allow for a inlet tube. you can also buy these direct from procharger. good luck! it is definately worth every penny and countless hours it will take to complete it.

I've done this a few times. I've compiled 3 complete kits and then some for under $1000 each. I did at one time pick up a sn60 that came with a Chrysler 430 bracket. That was for $400. I sold the head unit for $400 and the brackets for $200. One time a guy had a new Powerdyne Bd11A head unit he recieved as a repayment from another guy. Buy it now was $350. It fit in Vortech brackets.

How different are the Powerdyne, Vortech, Paxton, NOVI superchargers? Would it be something like buying any good head unit and using any mounting bracket made for superchargers and drilling holes for the charger to fit? I plan on piecing together a kit sometime down the road but i would like to know what would be the best to look out for. Are the sn60 units a Paxton brand?

Not all head units will fit in other brand brackets. Some of the powerdynes, vortechs and paxtons have the same shape and therefore can be swapped. If it comes down to it, a bracket could be fabricated with plate aluminum. I only know this from experience of having the units in hand. My SN60 was a McCulloch, which is was once Kaiser and since has been Paxton. The name changed a few times through the years. Its the same basic design. Until you get into the Novi series.

Go twin screw...MUCH better for street performance! INSTANT power off-idle.
