Ok well its been awhile since I've been on this website so I just thought I'd give a little update on whats going on. Well first of all I have a 2006 Ford Mustang GT with an AUTO tranny with only about 10k miles on it and I'm basically looking to s/c this bad boy soon (since the warranty is going bye bye). I'm planning on going for a Whipple H/O system with the intercooler obviously but possibly get a larger pulley just to bring the psi levels to around 10-9. Here are a few questions that I have for you guys:
1. How much RWHP will I get out of this system?
2. Is there any critical components that I should put on just so I don't kill the thing. (besides tuning of course)
3. Is there any good shops online that I can get a good price on this system?
4. Does anyone else have a different suggestion as to the setup I should go with?
5. Anymore comments and questions would be great.

Again, this is not my regular driver. I only take this car out on beautiful summer/spring/fall days. I live in minnesota so that means so driving in winter. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You can't go wrong with the Whipple HO - the kit is great and it's easy to install (takes about 20+ hrs). The dual fuel pumps in my opinion are way better than using a boost-a-pump like most of the other kits. At 10psi I make about 415RWHP on a Mustang Chassis dyno. The tuner claims that on car-to-car comparisons with a local Dynojet dyno, his Mustang dyno numbers are about 14% below the Dynojet so 415 would be 475RWHP equivalent or about 550HP at the crank. I don't know about these conversions for sure but I do have a dyno card that shows the 415rwhp so that's what I quote. I run a 3.500" blower pulley to make the 10 psi boost. I have a friend that put a Procharger in his '07 GT auto and blew up the tranny in the first day. Others seem to run their auto trannies at these boost levels without incident but I'd be worried. Your idea to run a larger pulley and drop the boost back is probably a good one. Plan to install some extra gauges - boost, fuel press, and wideband AFR were my choices. I recommend a dyno tune - use the programmer that your dyno tuner works with. You might want to go to 3.73 rear gears while you're at it. They seem to be the most common choice for FI cars (4.10's for NA cars). A couple upgrades to the Whipple HO kit to look into are relocation of the intake air temperature sensor (from the MAF to a dedicated sensor usually in the #6 intake runner) and installation of an air/oil seperator in the crankcase ventilation loop (to keep blowby oil from fouling the intercooler exchanger). On boost, it's an entirely different car - your grin muscles will be sore for weeks.

Man I have a '08 Roushcharged Bullitt with factory 3.73 gears and I'm thinking it's to much gear. First and second gear are about worthless. As soon as you do get traction in first, you have to shift, the RPM's fly up so freaking fast it's insane... Second gear lasts all of 2 seconds if I'm lucky. I'm thinking 3'55's would be better.

As far as I know the H.O Whipple kit is not made for autos unless Whipple direct has something different then Ford Racing.

Ford does not recommend the HO kit for the auto trans because it is typically pulleyed for about 10 psi which they feel pushes the auto trans beyond its limits. For auto trans cars I would still buy the HO for the dual pumps and intercooler but would pulley it down to 6 to 8 psi. In the future you could swap in a built tranny as they become more common and cheaper and then pulley for more power. You could also just install the standard Whipple kit now and add the HO upgrade (dual pumps, intercooler, and smaller pulley) later - at the same time as the built trans. I think the HO kit is cheaper than the standard kit plus the HO upgrade.

k well i like the first plan...get the Intercooler then go with a larger pulley. I'm looking to get around 400 rwhp and don't really want much more....

The whipple is a great piece. But with your goals you may want to look into a saleen blower. It doesn't quite have the potential of the whipple but it can still get you into the tens. (HotRodHarry is in the 10's w/ a saleen)

The Saleen is slightly cheaper. Just as easy, if not easier, to install and there is a lot of vendor support for them.
